This 1967 Porsche 912 is a stalled restoration project that features its original drivetrain and many nice parts. The current owner of 16 years initially used the car as a daily driver before beginning a restoration that has slowly progressed. Substantial engine work and rust repair has already been completed, though the car has been sitting on jackstands as pictured for several years while restoration was put on hold. The car is currently disassembled, but many original and replacement OEM components are included.
The car was originally Irish Green and has been repainted twice (once in white and once in red). It is now stripped and wearing primer. The seller reports that there is no filler anywhere on the car, and that some of the body panels are not original.
Both of the rear quarter panels, both rails, crossframe, outer doorskins, and inner door panels have been replaced with factory OEM parts.
The pins and bushings in the door hinges have also been replaced. Though not original, a set of period Fuchs alloys and tires are included in the sale.
The car’s original gauges have been refurbished, and the original interior is included, although the seller reports that the seat material is rough and the radio is missing.
The original Type 616/36 1.6 liter 4-cylinder engine has been overhauled along with the carburetors and the distributor. The starter has been rebuilt, and the gas tank has been repaired. The optional 5-speed manual gearbox and differential have also been overhauled. The engine has been repainted and new decals applied.
A lineup of valuable original and OEM parts can be seen beside the car. Both driving axles, rear control arms, and rear brakes have been rebuilt. The front shocks and wheel bearings have been replaced, and the steering assembly and brake calipers have been overhauled.
Though service records are at a minimum, all restoration has been documented by International Car Restoration in South Carolina. The car is sold with a clean South Carolina title.
