This 1967 Porsche 912 is a Karmann-built coupe that was produced in late 1966 and is equipped a replacement 1.6-liter flat-four paired with a 4-speed manual transaxle. The body was repainted in the past, and the car was daily driven by the late owner until approximately 25 years ago. He has recently passed, and this 912 is represented in this auction by the mechanic who serviced his other vehicles. The car has been started but not driven, and it is now being sold at no reserve with limited service records and a Rhode Island registration.
The body was repainted at some point in the past, and filler was used for older body repairs. Corrosion is present in various areas, including the rockers, front trunk, fenders, and floors. Close-up photographs of significant corrosion are provided in the gallery below.
Both of the bumpers have been painted black, and the front unit is equipped with amber fog lights. The 15″ steel wheels are fitted with chrome hubcaps and older Michelin tires.
The black interior features removable faux-wood paneling on the dash panel, and an aftermarket head unit powers Jensen speakers in the kick panels. A 5-gauge VDO instrument cluster can be seen in the dash, with the odometer indicating 85,585 miles.
The type 616/36 1.6-liter flat-four was installed by a previous owner in the 1970s and is paired with a 902/0 4-speed manual transaxle.
Stamping *742598* indicates the engine was built for a 1965 912. Although the car has not been driven in approximately 25 years, the seller notes that the engine starts when connected to a fuel can.
