This 1967 Porsche 911 Targa is said to have started life as a soft-window version, and was reportedly parked in a California carport for decades prior to the seller’s purchase in 2006. The car is equipped with a numbers-matching 2.0-liter flat-six, a replacement four-speed manual gearbox, five Fuchs wheels, a folding roof panel, and a replacement soft rear window assembly as well as retaining interior and exterior trim, lighting, and accessories. This Targa was cleaned in preparation for the sale and is now offered as a non-running project with manuals, a partial tool kit, a jack, a Porsche Certificate of Authenticity, and a clean Oregon title in the names of the seller and his brother.
The car was finished in Polo Red (6602) from the factory, and is said to have been equipped with a soft rear window from new. It is thought to have been repainted as part of a fixed-window conversion early in its life, and the previously-installed glass rear window has since been removed in favor of a soft version sourced by the seller. A folding roof panel is included in the sale and pictured in the gallery below.
Fading and paint loss are shown throughout along with dents in the left rear quarter and right front fender, a rust hole in the right front fender, and perforation around the rear window opening. The headlight buckets and engine cover are stamped 469, matching the last three digits of the car’s serial number. Four of the five included Fuchs wheels are marked 4 1/2Jx15, and the right front rim has been repaired in such a way that the stamping is illegible.
The cockpit is trimmed with black leatherette upholstery and charcoal carpets. Rust-through is noted in the floor pans. The padded black dash retains an aluminum accent strip and a Blaupunkt AM/FM radio. A four-spoke steering wheel frames VDO gauges with green markings including a tachometer, a speedometer, and a five-digit odometer showing 74k miles. Actual mileage is unknown.
The 2.0-liter flat-six is stamped 911766, which matches the engine number identified on the Porsche Certificate of Authenticity. The seller notes the presence of Weber 45 IDA carburetors in addition to a period ignition amplifier. The engine has not been run in decades and does not turn over. Perforation is noted in the front trunk below the battery tray.
A four-speed 902/0 transaxle replaced the stock five-speed gearbox under previous ownership. Additional pictures of the underbody can be viewed in the gallery below.
The sale includes a folder with a partial set of owner’s literature, a partially-filled tool toll, and a set of black California license plates, one of which is stamped 1963 and the other wearing a registration sticker from 1982.
Factory drivetrain numbers and other data are listed on the Porsche Certificate of Authenticity. A narrated walk-around video can be viewed below.
