This 1957 Porsche 356A coupe was purchased in 1983 out of Wyoming, and it was disassembled and stripped in subsequent years. The non-running project retains a replacement four-speed manual transaxle and is accompanied by a removed 1.6-liter flat-four. Further included equipment consists of 15″ wheels, drum brakes, brightwork, running lights, a fuel tank, a dual-exit exhaust system, the removed seats, wood-rimmed steering wheel, and VDO instrumentation. This 356A is now offered at with spare and removed components, repair manuals, and a clean title.
The Reutter-built bodywork was stripped of its paint and the bare metal shows corrosion throughout. Repairs have been made along both front fenders and rear quarter panels, and areas of rust-through are present. The removed brightwork has been re-chromed and further included equipment consists of spare weatherstripping, headlight assemblies, and sheet metal. A dent is present near the driver’s headlight housing. No windshield is included.
The 15″ steel wheels and suspension remain in place along with the four-wheel drum brakes. A spare set of five 15″ x 4.5″ chrome-finished Mangels wheels are included in the sale.
The cabin has been stripped, and the removed seats and door panels will accompany the car along with tan upholstery and red carpet kits. A spare wood-rimmed steering wheel is among the included parts, as are VDO gauges consisting of a 6k-rpm tachometer, a combination gauge, and a 120-mph speedometer showing a 42k mileage reading.
The 1.6-liter flat-four has been removed and is accompanied by a selection of engine components.
The replacement four-speed manual gearbox remains installed, and Sachs clutch components and a dual-exit exhaust system are included.
Rust is visible along a number of underside components.
