1954 Chevrolet Corvette

This 1954 Chevrolet Corvette is the 3,474th of 3,640 examples produced for the model year, and was acquired by the seller on BaT in January 2024. It is powered by a 235ci “Blue Flame” inline-six paired with a two-speed Powerglide automatic transmission and is finished in white over red vinyl upholstery. Features include 15” red-finished steel wheels with faux knock-off spinners as well as a white soft top, a curved windshield, wire mesh headlight guards, a heater, lap belts, and a dash-mounted rear-view mirror. This C1 Corvette is now offered with a spare windshield, partial service records, and a clean Minnesota title.

The car was refinished in white in the early 2010s and features a white convertible top, a curved windshield, wire mesh headlight guards, a chrome grille, a driver-side rearview mirror, directional signals, Chevrolet fender badging, a three-piece rear bumper, and dual exhaust outlets exiting through the rear valance. Paint chips and cracks around the car and cracks in the fiberglass are noted and the convertible soft top is worn.

Red-finished 15” steel wheels feature polished covers with faux knock-off spinners and are mounted with Coker Classic tires measuring 205/70. The C1 was equipped from the factory with an independent front suspension, front and rear hydraulic shocks, and a live rear axle with semi-elliptical leaf springs. The limiting straps were replaced under prior ownership. Stopping power is provided by four-wheel drum brakes.

The bucket seats are faired into the rear bodywork and are reupholstered in red vinyl, and they are complemented by a color-coordinated dash pad and door panels. Interior appointments include a dash-mounted rear-view mirror, an analog clock, a heater, lap belts, a floor-mounted shifter, and polished door sills. The vinyl was repaired on the driver’s seat under prior ownership. Blemishes on the dash and steering wheel and tears in the vinyl around the doors are shown in the gallery.

The two-spoke steering wheel features a chrome horn ring and fronts a 140-mph speedometer. A central 5k-rpm tachometer is flanked by gauges for coolant temperature, oil pressure, amperage, and fuel level. The five-digit odometer shows 43k miles. Total mileage is unknown.

The 235ci “Blue Flame” inline-six was factory equipped with three Carter YH side-draft carburetors. The fuel hose and exhaust hangers were replaced under prior ownership. Oxidation on the chrome components is noted and the engine runs rough.

Power is routed to the rear wheels via a two-speed Powerglide automatic transmission. Corrosion is noted on underside components.
