This 1964 Porsche 356C coupe was reportedly parked in the early 1980s and was acquired by the seller in 2005 as a non-running project. Originally specified in Sky Blue over red leather, the car was stripped to bare metal and underwent metal repairs between 2014 and 2024, and additional work involved cleaning the replacement 1600S flat-four, resealing the four-speed manual transaxle, overhauling the brakes and rear suspension, and replacing the carburetors, fuel tank and lines, wheels, tires, brake lines, clutch cable, and rear wiring harness. This 356C coupe is now offered with a Porsche Certificate of Authenticity, spare parts, upholstery, parts receipts, a car cover, and a clean Washington title in the seller’s name.
This Karmann-built body was finished from the factory in Sky Blue and was taken to bare metal and received rust repairs between 2014 and 2024. The seller notes that the interior and underside were lap-seam sealed and primed, with the interior topcoat painted and the chassis undercoated. Three layers of sound insulation were installed in the transaxle, engine bay, and front compartment areas.
The replacement 15″ steel wheels were mounted with 175/65 Landspider Citytraxx G-P tires. The car was factory equipped with disc brakes at each corner. Reconditioned brake calipers and replacement pads, emergency brake shoes and cables, and lines were installed by the seller. The front suspension was repainted and Koni rear shocks have been fitted.
The cabin has been stripped and retains a red-finished dashboard and steering wheel. The removed seats are included in the sale, along with a replacement off-white headliner, dark gray leather upholstery, and gray carpets. The uninstalled VDO 120-mph speedometer viewable in the gallery is believed to have rolled over and shows 22k miles.
The replacement 1.6-liter flat-four was sourced from a 1964 356SC and was reportedly overhauled in the late 1970s. The engine was cleaned and repainted by the seller, and rebuilt Solex carburetors and a rear wiring harness were installed. The seller notes that the engine has been run for approximately three hours on a test stand, and a video of it running can be seen below.
A replacement fuel tank was also installed under current ownership.
Power is routed to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transaxle, which was fitted with replacement seals and installed by the seller. The clutch cable was also replaced.
The Porsche Certificate of Authenticity shows the factory colors and a build date of April 1, 1964.
Spare and removed parts that accompany the vehicle are shown in the gallery, along with a parts list and associated prices.
